AU)) A U S T R A L I A N & N E W Z E A L A N D TEMPUR – A UNIQUE MATERIAL Congratulations on your TEMPUR Purchase and on joining a growing number of owners worldwide who are enjoying the amazing comfort and pressure reliving benefits of TEMPUR. Before use, please take a little time to read through this booklet to understand how to get the optimum benefits and durability from your TEMPUR Product. WHAT IS TEMPUR ? HOW DOES TEMPUR WORK? TEMPUR is a temperature sensitive visco-elastic material with an open cell structure that moulds to the exact contours of your body. These properties together create a unique, pressure-relieving material that provides optimal comfort. It does this by allowing your body to rest in its natural position whilst distributing pressure evenly over the entire area of use, eliminating pressure points which can be a source of discomfort. TEMPUR reacts to the warmth of your body and thereby adapts to the shape of it. The visco-elastic properties of the material mean that TEMPUR regains its original shape after compression with a certain built-in delay. This delay depends on the temperature. Therefore, TEMPUR feels firmer at lower temperatures and softer at higher temperatures. USE OF YOUR TEMPUR PRODUCT Once unpacked, the product may give off a characteristic smell. This is completely harmless and disappears after a short period of use. To avoid this, ventilate the product well before use. During transportation the cover may move from its original position. Once the TEMPUR Material has returned to normal room temperature, simply straighten the cover to the desired symmetrical position by hand. Over the first few months of use, the mattress cells will become more open which results in the TEMPUR Material reacting more quickly to body temperature. It may therefore feel as if the material is getting softer. In fact the pressure-relieving properties remain the same and comfort will be improved. Due to the unique pressure relieving properties of the TEMPUR Material, it can take some people a little time for their body to get used to a TEMPUR Product. Persevere, and within a few weeks you will be enjoying the product’s amazing comfort, support and pressure relieving benefits. Please note that TEMPUR advises against the use of electric blankets and hot water bottles in conjunction with its products, as they may diminish the pressure-relieving properties. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE Store all products in their original shape. Generally TEMPUR Products should not be bent or pressed into shape as there is a risk of the material being damaged. The following applies when transporting, moving or storing TEMPUR Products: • TEMPUR Mattresses must be stored flat, ideally in the original packaging. • TEMPUR Toppers can either be rolled up or stored flat. Do not roll out a TEMPUR Topper when it is cold as there can be a risk of the material tearing or cracking. • Due to the visco-elasticity of the TEMPUR Material, both mattresses and toppers can become slightly compressed during transport or storage. This is normal and the product will regain its normal size after a short time at room temperature. • TEMPUR Pillows should be stored in their original shape. However, products such as THE TRAVEL PILLOW by Tempur may be transported rolled up in the bag supplied (the bag should only be used when travelling to avoid permanent deformation of the pillow). • TEMPUR Products should be stored in a dry environment (maximum 65% relative humidity). CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE The TEMPUR Material can not be washed or dry cleaned. To clean a TEMPUR Product, remove the cover and ventilate the TEMPUR Material, or wipe it off carefully using a well-wrung cloth to remove any stains or dirt from the surface. TEMPUR is produced with an environmentally friendly, bacteria reducing component, which prevents bacterial and fungal growth. However, TEMPUR Products should be regularly ventilated to remove any moisture and TEMPUR Mattresses must always be placed on a ventilated bed base, to prevent moisture accumulating. COVERS FOR TEMPUR PRODUCTS Most TEMPUR Covers can be removed and cleaned in accordance with the washing instructions on the care label, which is 4 | TEMPUR usually located inside the cover. During washing, the cover must be turned inside out and the zipper must be closed. NOTE: Special covers which contain TEMPUR Material can not be washed or dry cleaned, but can easily be removed for airing and brushing (with the exception of THE SUPREME MATTRESS by Tempur ). FIRE SAFETY The composition of the TEMPUR Material reduces the risk of it catching fire. However, the material can be ignited by direct contact with a naked flame, so smoking in bed is strongly discouraged. CE LABELLING Many TEMPUR Products are CE-labelled as medical devices (class 1), which means that the characteristics of the products meet the requirements of directive 93/42/EEC.
